Beadian Site

Leigh recommended a site Beadian.com. I checked it out, made a purchase and the beads are beautiful. I have added this to my favorites and would also recommend this site for your beading needs.

A Jewelry Holiday Piece for Adults or Children

If you are looking for a beaded craft idea that is so easy and quick even kids can join in the fun, then don't forget about good old pony beads and pipe cleaners. It is amazing what you can make with these simply and inexpensive supplies. For example, my So-Easy Bead and Wire Wreath combines these supplies into a wreath ornament that you can make in just a few minutes.

Buy a big bag of pony beads and a stack of pipe cleaners and go crazy with these little wreath. They are great for decorating your tree or holiday gift, or they work well a la carte to give as small gifts to co-workers and friends.

Beaded Ornament Cover Bulb Size?

I had an email from a reader the other day asking what size bulbs should be used for the ornament cover projects on this site. I measured around one bulb, and it was about 8 inches. So I would say that anywhere from a standard 4 inch diameter bulb to a smaller 3 inch diameter bulb will work for most beaded ornament covers.

Both my projects, the Beaded Ornament Cover and the Flower Petal Ornament Cover, are placed on top of a glass bulb, so they don't have to fit under the bulb, just on top. They aren't as ornate as some beaded covers I've seen, but both work up very fast, so even if you don't have a lot of time, they make great gifts. Also, you can simply change out the beads to make each look a little different.

Frosty the Snowman Pin

Even if you are short on both time and funds, you can make a number of simple jewelry projects to wear yourself or give away as a little "something" to friends and family this holiday season. For example, this Frosty the Snowman Pin requires just a little glitter, glue, and a pin back. He's really cute and I think he's not necessarily just a feminine-style pin so even guys who want to get into the Christmas spirit may enjoy attaching him to their coat lapel.

All materials for this pin I purchased at my local craft store, and I'd say the supplies were easily less than $5, including glue and glitter, which I have enough left over of both, allowing me to make more Frosty pins!
