I set these pages up just so you can swap beads! A bead swap allows you to exchange your unwanted beads with someone else who might have some more desirable beads that you want instead. Maybe you bought a whole strand of pendant beads but only needed one, for example, whereas someone else would love your pendant beads and would trade a couple crystals instead.
How does this work?
It's simple. If you have some unwanted beads you would like to swap with someone else, you post them here on their own page. If someone is interested in swapping beads (or selling them), they can comment back on your posting, and then you can contact each other directly using your member profiles (click someone's profile image, then you can send them a private message) and exchange the details of the swap (like mailing addresses).
Ready to post some beads for swapping? Just click "+Create a New Page" up at the top of this page. Next, give your beads a title in the "Page Title" box, then in the Content box, add a description, and describe all the details about your beads that you would like to swap, and maybe a little about what kind of beads you would want to swap in return. Use the photo icon in the toolbar, to add photos of your beads so people will see what they are getting. You can either upload an image, or insert and existing image if you already have your photos stored on-line.
If you want to store your photos on-line, just go to www.photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. When you upload your images to Photobucket, they will give you the "HTML link" to your image file. Click the Photo icon in the toolbar above to add photos, and you can paste the link to your image files in the box to make your photo appear on this page. Size your photos for web viewing using their Edit photo feature (so the files aren't huge and too slow to display).
Have fun, and enjoy swapping beads. If you have questions, just post them in the forum!

Beads for Education is an organization which provides scholarships for girls in Africa through beading. Their goal is to help education and thus help them make a better life for themselves. And, of course, one way they do this through selling beaded jewelry and other beaded items through the organization's web site. The jewelry and other products are made by 25 women who are members of the Dupoto Women's Group. They have a pretty wide variety of merchandise from very cool key chains that sell for only $15 to very elaborate beaded collars that sell for almost two hundred dollars. They also have holiday ornaments, starting at around $12 each.

I received a sample of wood chain from Rings & Things. That's right, chain made from wood. I mean...errr..what?
But, I loved the look of the wood - smooth, light, rich, and so different! I was challenged at first and then decided to let the wood do its thing so to speak and simply added some fiber on each end to create this simple necklace.
Even thought the design of my Wood Chain and Purple Hemp Necklace is very simple, I think it's got a good deal of drama going on.

I am officially in the holiday spirit and thus feel the urge to make some new holiday jewelry. These adorable lampwork beads by D.D. Hess actually helped me get there. She sent them to me just the other day, and I think they are adorable. I especially like the mittens.
It may seem a little early considering Thanksgiving hasn't even come to the U.S. yet, but considering everything else I've got going on and the fact that I'd like to make some jewelry pieces to give as well, you can really never start too early.
